Word of the day - Monogamy

mo-nog-a-my

noun

1. The practice or condition of having a single sexual partner during a period of time.

It's a rather pleasant concept, I wonder when it will come back into fashion.

I grant that a handful of guys do hold season tickets to the elitist group of people who practice monogamy but why do so many of them feel they have to pretend that they don't? Is it like being clever at school? You have to pretend that you're stupid to fit in.

At its best, monogamy is indicative of the fact that a relationship is a shared project. For me, the purpose thereof tends to be mutual support in the face of a world that can be extremely depressing, and a mutual effort to cope with it. It just seems to make sense for the sexual side of the issue to be grounded in a broader context.
