This is the first time that I've been to my parent's house since the sad death of my amazing cat Austin. There is a sense of grief amongst the whole community with at least 3 neighbours admitting that they used to provide him with a "second home" (i.e. steal him when we weren't looking.)

My mum is very upset but is determined to find optimistic aspects, for example she now uses the cat flap as an outlet for the tumble dryer pipe, something she was afraid to do before in case Austin came in from outside and ended up tumbling around in the dryer.
