Birdemic - Has the director ever even seen a bird?
After the horrendous (and important) Collateral Murder video that's been in the media today, I was very happy to find a news story to make me laugh until a cried a little.
Birdemic: Shock and Terror is supposedly a serious horror movie written and directed by James Nguyen. In actual fact it's like watching aliens from an 80s computer game escape into a bad home movie.

It's well worth watching the BBC news report claiming that the film has achieved a cult following. It includes some great clips from the film. Those around 1 minute in are my personal favourite.
In the trailer, the hero is billed as "Meet Rod: the young software salesman on his way to achieving his silicone valley dream." Now I'm not unfond of the odd geek, but if I had to choose someone to defend me against almost certain death by wild eagle, I probably wouldn't choose a software salesman.
Although, in this situation the birds have so clearly been superimposed by computer that air-brushing them out might be the best defence.
The atrocious dialogue, flat acting and plot theft help add to the experience, but it's the special effects that really make this film side-side-splittingly bad.
To add to the humour, The American Humane Society are said to have contacted Nguyen to check that no actual birds were hurt in the filming of the movie. Nguyen responded, "They look pretty real, but they were all digital characters."
Birdemic: Shock and Terror is Nguyen's third film. "You get better as you go," he said.
